The College of Arts and Sciences has three divisions, social sciences, the humanities, and the division of natural sciences, mathematics and computer science. All of our departments are working to form students that have a very strong foundation in the different areas of their fields so that they have many choices when they graduate. We do not only teach the students critical thinking and analytical thinking in the classroom, we also do that through mentoring. And we have different ways in which we can mentor students. The most straightforward one is by advising, so we all have academic advisees. There are other ways in which we mentor students. For example, if they participate in research, there is very close one on one relationship that is formed there, where you become a very important role model in the life of the students.

The hands-on experience I've gotten at St. Joe's is so important to me because it's really prepared me for my future. I want to be a clinical psychologist, so that's something that is extremely hands-on. So the fact that I'm able to already have some practice in that is so important to learn about that might not be in a textbook.
