      Athletics

The rallying cry of Saint Joseph’s University, “The Hawk Will Never Die”, embodies our pride, spirit and never-give-up attitude. This spirit shines among the student-athletes in our 20 Division I athletic programs and Campus Recreation sports. Our students compete regionally and nationally, including in the Philadelphia City 6 intramural league, one of the biggest intramural sports leagues in the country.

First-class athletic experiences give you plenty of opportunities to stay active, get involved in campus life and make new friends. For our Hawks, it’s more than just winning or losing—it’s about maximizing your potential on and off the field to learn agility and resilience that will propel you to success throughout your life.

The rallying cry of Saint Joseph's University is "The Hawk Will Never Die" and to me that reflects the resiliency of our St. Joe's community. The spirit, the fight, the never give up attitude, and it's a pleasure to watch the student athletes bring that to life on a regular basis. The game day experience on Hawkhill is special. You'll start by hearing the fight song being played as you walk up, some red lights shining outside of Hagan Arena, you'll see a passionate fan base and the student section going wild. It's just an exciting place to be and a great atmosphere and Hagan Arena and game day. So our campus recreation program is a real point of pride here at Saint Joseph's. We offer 26 clubs, sports and one of the crown jewels of our campus recreation program is being a member of the Philadelphia City Six, so you can play for the city title. They bring in great wellness and fitness programming. So we're extraordinarily lucky to be part of that Philadelphia City Six. Being the division one student athlete is full of challenges, but the rewards are spectacular. And so our mantra here is we're developing student athletes, helping them reach their potential as people as students and as athletes. And to do that you're going to face some ups and downs. But the the rewards, the lifelong friendships, the lessons learned, the cutting nets down and winning championships. So many of those positives make it all worthwhile.
